have a look at the huka falls nearby Taupo...
...at me sitting there in twilight thinking about...
my next destination. The Mount Doom (see Lord of the Rings) also known as Mount Ngauruhoe.
I passed him during my trip over the Mount Tongariro.
Here you can see one of the many huge craters which you can find while doing the Tongariro crossing.
for example "The Red Crater"...
but if you are not so much into these Crater things you can also enjoy the gourgeous panorama upon the mountain.
You can see the Emerald lakes...
or the blue lake...
which is worth a break for having a solid lunch...
... for standing the descend afterwards.
The end of the track leads through a wonderful native forrest.
But Taupo has more than one sight. I did the Skydive and we visited the Craters of the Moon which is actually "just" a big field with a lot of vulcanic activitie. There is a lot of steam as you can see at the picture, but you can just feel happy that you can't smell the air over there...its disgusting.
Cause of the air and our never ending time pressure we decided to go to Napier which is famous for its Art Decor style. (as you can see on the picture above)
what a inspiration for us. We decided to make something creative but unforunatly we failed - or something like that.
We searched for inspiration and decided to go back to mother earth and see what she created for us...
and some fluffi penguins.
impressed by that we decided to go back on the road to find something equal.
"Street romantic" nearby Wellington.
We resolved that we have to head for south - on our ferry Regina.
The legendary "South Island"...
Our first destination was the Abel Tasman National Park. On the way to this Park we had to cross Nelson (the town where we are staying at the moment) and we became witness of one off New Zealands Bush fires.
The smoke was everywhere and it wouldn't go away.
That picture makes beginning of our journey through the Abel Tasman National park. We drove to Totaranui by using a water-taxi.
This tractor was there for pulling the boats out to the sea.
a "famous" rock (cause of the crak)
and some kind of random picture...
...before we reached the paradise.
with water clear as, so that you can see through...
and mystic paths to walk.
This was a sea crossing which was only able at low tide ( and two ours before and after that time).
It was more like walking through a dessert...
but there was to much water to make it believable...
...to much live to make it authentic
and to beautiful to make it plausible.
But anyway - our time was over after a while and we had to travel back to Motueka where we found a hostel with a lemon tree.
Finally we are "back" in Nelson.
a very beautiful little town.
I hope that you haven't had any problems with unerstanding my blog this time. If you are not so sure about a few words you can easily figure them out at www.leo.org

Hallo Patti

Also, gib Gas! Liebe Grüße, Papa
Moin Patti,
Janni
